Fundraising!

Thank you to everyone who helped us reach our initial fundraising goal of $8,000 on IndieGoGo! It well help us tremendously as we're about to go into production in the next couple of weeks. However, since this amount is not the total we will need to complete the film, the IndieGoGo fundraising page will remain up until the time runs out (ten more days). If you are interested in checking it out, click here!

Also, the fundraiser last night went well! The always amazing Elizabeth McQueen let us sell MSTR merchandise, set up a silent auction, and raffle off a walk on role in the movie at her show last night. We also showed the one shot music video Elizabeth and I made a few weeks ago for her song "You're to Blame", which you can check out here! Note: We did about 10 takes, and the flapjack groom never dropped the pancake.

Filmmaking Contest!

"My Sucky Teen Romance" Filmmaking Contest!

In my new movie "My Sucky Teen Romance", the characters watch a B-horror movie called "Killer Roadkill". The only problem is, this movie doesn't actually exist. That's where you come in!

Create a short, cheesy horror film under 8 minutes that involves a weredillo (definition: werewolf - wolf + armadillo) chasing a girl in the setting of your choice! Just follow the specifications below:

-No shorter than 3 minutes, no longer than 8 minutes
-No copyrighted materials in the film
-The weredillo must be prominently featured
-Title of the movie: "Killer Roadkill"
-Upload on YouTube by July 27, 2010 and send the link to: hunting4zombies@yahoo.com

The winner will have the film featured in "My Sucky Teen Romance", and the filmmakers will receive 2 tickets to first screening of the movie. Top entries will be featured on the DVD.

*Note: "My Sucky Teen Romance" retains the rights to all submissions to the contest.

New Website is up!

Thanks to Moises Chiullan for putting the new site together, it's the first revamp since we first put it up for PATHOGEN! You can check out the new Cheesy Nuggets page here.

The order of MY SUCKY TEEN ROMANCE T-shirts will be coming in, I should have a real update on that very soon!

Also...I'm so psyched that the camera we're going to film the movie on, a Canon EOS 7D, is arriving tomorrow! I've used this camera on a few shorts, and I'm always amazed by the quality. It's a great resource for indie filmmakers on tight budgets.

Aint it Cool News and Film School Rejects!

I'd like to thank Ain't it Cool News and Film School Rejects for posting articles about our fundraising efforts! With a science fiction convention being the key setting of the film, we have to create a lot of set pieces and costumes to make it a believable location. There is still a lot of work to be done, but so far the IndieGoGo page has gotten the ball rolling!

Two more brief updates:

1) You can follow the film on twitter here.

2) This is a bit unrelated, but not entirely– we just got in a new order of Pathogen DVDs, which you can order here. The money from the DVD orders also goes toward funding MSTR!

T-Shirt design 2: SpaceCON

Okay, I'm super psyched for this one, mostly because it feels like the perfect combination of sci-fi convention meets 1980's. Another design by the amazing Max Kruemcke!

T-Shirt design! (UPDATED)

The design for the T-shirt is done, thanks to the very talented Max Kruemcke! Info on how to order coming soon.

MY SUCKY TEEN ROMANCE

This blog is dedicated to updates on my third feature film- MY SUCKY TEEN ROMANCE

A brief synopsis:

In a culture that is currently overrun with romanticized vampires, it is up to four geeky teenagers to defend their friend and beloved sci-fi convention from a group of very real, and very blood-thirsty vampires.

Some of my general thoughts on the project:

“I want the characters to be real geeks- they know about Twilight and the teen vampire phenomenon. But these vampires are the real deal, and more than everyday teenagers can take on. The comedy comes from the awkwardness of regular kids dealing with monsters who have been over-romanticized in recent pop culture.”

“This is a teen comedy written, directed, and acted by teenagers. It is a unique opportunity to capture the genuine teen experience.”
